The First John One Verse One Pathway

1 Jn 1:1? That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

Going through this portion of scripture, I discovered an important pathway to getting the best out of the Word of life for yourself and for being able to pass it on to others.? That which was from the beginning means that which was before anything existed. We would look at this interesting pathway in four steps:

Hearing:? You hear Gods word when you listen to it being taught, when the spirit of God reminds you of a portion of scripture you have read, or in whatever other way you get to hear it. But that isn?t enough, you have to go to the next stage.

Seeing: You see Gods word when the spirit of God opens you spiritual eyes to see as God sees, to see what He is saying to you in His word. This seeing comes by spending time in fellowship with the spirit of truth that brings us into all truth; he shows you the truth of God?s word as it applies to you and His children in general. Still this isn?t enough, you need to go to the next stage.

Looking Upon (Meditation); When God brings His word to you, it is not enough to know that it is God?s word or what it says, you need to spend time to ponder on or meditate on God?s word much like a ruminant animal chewing the cord. Spend time in prayer and further studying of the word to get a clearer picture of what God is saying to you. Take His word back to Him and watch Him show you treasures that are hidden up in His word. Then, you are ready for the next stage.

Handling: PUT GOD?S WORD TO ACTION! Too many people just hear what God says , some might even get to seeing and meditation, but not enough put God?s word that they have heard to action. Take his word that you have heard, seen, and meditated on and speak it into any circumstance, issue or problem and see just how potent it is. Speak that word to someone in need of a change or to someone that is not yet born again and see how much difference it?ll make. Many do not go throw the first two or three stages and they expect a change by just mumbling something their grandmother used to mumble; some even hear it in church, but they do not care enough to see and meditate on what they have heard and they just want to throw what they heard their pastor say at the situation. It?s just not possible, it won?t work! You have to get into the Word to get the best out of the word. God bless you.
